Password Protected Photo Site

Hopefully someone on here can advise.

I am hoping to create an account with a photo hosting site to display photos from a hobby group that I belong to. I want to password protect the whole site to allow only those people I invite to view the pictures.

I don't mind paying an annual fee to facilitate this but I hope to find a user friendly site that will possibly allow comments to be made by the viewer on the photo.

Has anyone had any experience of such a site? I have had a brief look at Flikr and fotopic but are there any better ones?

    You could try picasaweb.google.com

I use Google Picasa, you can make all the photos private, and give the links specifically to people you want to see them, or just invite and allow them via accounts.

Viewers with accounts (can make comments), but as long as you don't enable public access, it's all private to you and the family/friends viewers or those invited with accounts.

I took out a subscription with Pbase a few years ago and have always found their service to be excellent. You can password protect individual galleries as you create them so you can be selective as to who you allow access to each gallery.

You can see my galleries which are not password protected here http://www.pbase.com/davecq and of cause from there you can navigate back to the Pbase website home page to check their rates.

You can send invites to view to those you wish to see the pictures.

Snapfish is quite good, you can buy prints and things and sometimes they offer you free prints. My friends and I set up an account to share pictures and we got some free prints, except Jessops thought we were a bit strange when they discovered we had ordered them through the name of "Mad Beans".

I'm a huge fan of SmugMug - https://www.smugmug.com - not least because they give free hosting accounts to charities e.g. my own charity http://freewheelers.smugmug.com

They can do exactly what you describe. They also have unlimited bandwidth and unlimited storage.

They operate a referral scheme for signup which gets you a discount so send me a PM if you want an introduction.
