Hi looking for a bit of help with above.
I am thinking of getting broadband so i can play pes5 online. I am not very clued up on any of this.
Thinking of going with tiscalli who will supply a modem and already have a ps2online adaptor.
What else will i need. Does the broadband connector go in to the same connection on the pc as the dial up line went?
If not my pc has only one network input, will i need a router?
Does anyone have any experience with ps2 online with tiscalli?
Thanks in advance.

You will need a modem/router like this. Your PC and your PS2 will connect directly to this unit with ethernet patch cables. The phone line also connects directly to the modem/router.
If you sign up with an ISP that offers a free USB modem, just sell it on Ebay.
btw - top tip. DON'T TOUCH TISCALI WITH A BARGEPOLE
If they made lager it would probably be the worst beer on the planet.
If you want some insight into Tiscali complaints take a look here. They are notorious for slow speeds, poor support, connection problems and billing errors. More Tiscali complaints here.

mitchb you will need the network adaptor for your ps2 as well. the instructions that come with that are easy to follow and you should be online inside half hour i'd say0

Sorry to rain on the parade slightly, but if it's the new slimline PS2 you won't need the network adaptor as the connection for ADSL is already part of the console.
I have my PS2, X-Box and PC in another room from my phone connection, and just have two longish CAT5 cables running around the walls of one bedroom. One for the PC, and one for the PS2 and X-Box ( as I won't be playing both consoles at the same time, I can just move the cable into the back of the one I want).
I advise doing a bit of research on this first, as when I first started, I had no idea which cables I'd need, or which was the best router. I use AOL Gold at £24.99 and have had no problems with them, never needed to ring them for anything.
You will find that nearly every ISP meets with some criticism from someone. The one I'd keep away from is Wanadoo due to their uncompetitive prices.0
