  • this is the competitions board. we put up the answers for all competitions, apart from those where the website ask us not to so maybe if lush don't want them posted they could ask us not to, but seeing as they were posted last time with no probs it was assumed there would be no problems this time

Hi there, my name's Henry Dalton - I'm the writer and director of the Lush Town films. Would it please be possible to refrain from giving away full lists of the solutions to future Lush Town competitions, as it does rather spoil it for people who are taking the time to solve a hard worked-out puzzle! Obviously this is just a polite request and I don't mean to be enforcing any kind of censorship on what isn't, after all, a Lush board (and I'm not a Lush employee - just the guy that made the films), but I hope that in the spirit of the fun of the competition, maybe any 'complete solutions' from anyone eagled-eyed enough to get all the references could hold on being posted until the competition has run its course ;)

    Many thanks,

    Henry :o

Should u not also be saying that to the other 8 sites ive seen the answers posted on, also i actually use your forums and i know people told each other the answers, so what makes this so different?
I fully understand our point but think your acting on your forum members complaining over being beaten to the stores, not everyone used the answes on this site, i spent hours working it out xxxxx

I totally agree - there's only so many sites that I get to see when I'm browsing casually though, this just happened to be one of them. And I also realise that not everyone on a site like this would use the solutions, as you say.
As I say in my post, I'm not a Lush employee - the films themselves aren't made by Lush. They're made by myself and my girlfriend (and a very very small crew), with a lot of blood, sweat and tears! Each one takes us literally months to plan and make, which is why it's sometimes a shame to see complete solutions posted so readily by people whilst others are still trying to take part in the game. That said, I totally understand that the whole purpose of sites like this is to give out solutions to competitions, which is why what I wrote was just a polite request - I can understand if people don't agree with it, it's utterly your choice at the end of the day. :o

Just to add a big :T to HenryDalton for the films - I've really enjoyed the last 2 instalments, and even though I haven't won the big prizes either time I like puzzling over the films! I'm sure there are probably some people on forums who're upset that there were no prizes left by the time they got to the store, but it's the luck of the draw, and I think most of the people who went to the trouble of going into the shops are real Lush fans who also watched the film and worked it out by themselves. Looking forward to episode 3 - please keep up the good work! :j

Sorry, but if you didn't want to know the answers then don't read the list of them. If you had a quick glance then you would have known what it was being a die hard lushette, so had a chance to look away. There's no stopping you going ahead and sitting working it out still and getting through to the codewords yourself.

If you regularly use this site then you know how the comps work on here - we post the answers. The last time this was on a few of us stayed up until the early hours of the morning working it all out for each other and it was great fun! I havn't been on this time, but I know for a fact answer swapping was going on between people on the lush forum after a while.

If it gives someone the momentum to get into a lush store, and get to try the brilliant products they may not otherwise have tried, where's the harm?? They could then become hooked and become regular customers.

I hope Lush run this again, and the prize stash gets bigger and bigger each time they do it :)

    Hey Lucy

I think you missed the point of my post. Yes, you have the choice not to read the answers. And yes, answers to other competitions are posted on here. I don't have a problem with that because in most comps a winner is drawn after the deadline, therefore everyone has an equal chance of winning.

Because this comp is a race to get into store, you don't have an equal chance of winning. Getting this answers from here is obviously quicker than working them out, therefore giving them the answers actually gives them an unfair advantage over people playing the game. That's why I object.

I also use the Lush forum. I have seen people on there giving each other hints to the odd one or two answers, but I've never seen anyone post up a list. On the whole, forum users were very adamant about entering into the spirit of the contest. Which is as it should be.

I think a better approach on here - for the first couple of days at least - would be to post details of stores that still have prizes left. That way, people are encouraged to enter and try some products and prizes don't go unclaimed.
