Paignton Zoo

Whilst in Devon we would like to visit this Zoo - if anybody knows, is it bigger or smaller than Chester Zoo?

I know we will find out when we get there but my husband is asking and I can't tell from the site.

We have family membership to Chester which means we can get in free which is useful and if it is big we can plan to do it over a couple of days!

hi we went in may and it is a lovely zoo, but you can easily do this in 1 day, we used a kelloggs voucher to get 1 in free.
    hope you enjoy your day.

  • Paignton Zoo is not a very big zoo. I live in Paignton.

as you enter the road for Paignton zoo you will see a roundabout take the left you will get into the zoo, take a right and you are in Morrisons.

I suggest picking up your lunch from there before you go in as it is rather spendy.

    Enjoy¬!!

Paignton Zoo is a fab day out, we went with a kellogs voucher back in May for the opening of the crocodile swamp. Do as Lisa says and take luch with you.

Hi, I live next door to Paignton Zoo (peacocks are v annoying lol) you could do the zoo in 1 day as others have said but it is a really enjoyable day out. However avoid living coasts (where the penguins have been kidnapped to) it is v expensive for the 30 mins at the most that you are in there.

    Choccy ;)

  • Paignton is more compact than Chester zoo - so less walking, and less distance between each animal. We went to Paignton zoo a few weeks ago and had a lovely day out (used the cornflakes voucher). It was great for young children as they have a free ball pool, and cafe area with colouring sheets which was fab when their legs were tired and we needed a break from looking at animals, the bird show is good too (parrots do jigsaws, etc) also free. We liked the more hands on approach where you can touch animals - mine got to touch a wandering tortoise and lots of goats (think this is a big minus at Chester)

There are a few types of animal missing though - which are good at Chester e.g. penguins, seals, Chesters bat cave is better too,

We have not bothered with living coasts for that very reason, it just looks so small, and expensive for what it is.
  • I agree. Don't bother with the living coasts. Very expensive for what it was.

Love the zoo though, been there a few times.
