Anchor, definitely.
But I am biased. If I have a choice, I will always choose the product from NZ. Also, these people invented spreadable butter, and were nearly sent to prison as a result. Of course I would choose them.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -
Aldi spreadable butter is yummy- I think almost (!) as good as Lurpak.
Now what's this about going to prison for spreadable butter? I'm intrigued!!:huh:Won Mulberry Bag Jan 090 -
another vote for Aldi's Lurpak-look-a-like Norpak, and Morrisons do a pretend Lurpak too. Apropos of nothing at all, I once read a piece of research and apparently, northerners buy far more of the white Nordic style butters - like Lurpak, which have a cleaner taste on the palate, and southerners buy more of the yellow Anchor type which have a richer taste which lasts longer on the palate. Can't remember the research saying why though! Nordic genes perhaps?0

I'm on a really tight budget so I use Sainsburys own brand. It's cheap but still decent and I think it's spreadable (and better than the Tesco's own). If they're on sale, I'll go for the Flora Buttery, I like the taste more.Debt at highest 01/01/2008- $79,385.32

I'm a big fan of the Asda SP Spreadable - but, in recent weeks, it has shot up from 59p to 86p for 250gms  - quite ridiculous. This week their ordinary Asda Spreadable was £1.00 for 500gms
- but I'm sure that was because they ran out of the 50p butter that they had advertised.

Another vote for Country Life here, especially as it's on special offer at Tescos! It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.0

I would just get a butter dish and keep normal butter outside the fridge. It's also quicker if you need to bake with it (easier to mix in when softer)
(sorry I don't know about the price issue as I'm not in the UK, but prices are going up here too!)0 -
NZ anchor when i want the taste of home
Lurpak when we are feeling abit posh lol

'Anchor Spreadable' is no longer butter and hasn't been for several years.
It used to be 'Anchor Spreadable Butter' and then, with no apparent change in packaging or branding, the word 'Butter' disappeared. When you read the ingredients, it's just another 'spread' now.
Kerrygold is good.0 -
I use kerrygold because it is all butter. Some of the oher spreadable butters use vegetable oil to soften them.0
