Hi all
My pc seems to be going really slow and locking up regularly and then when I try to close it down I keep getting the error message "XP.Com event recei" I have to choose to "end now" before I can switch it off?
I feel like this must be something to do with whats causing the problem - but have no idea what to do??
Any ideas on how to solve this??

What operating system do you have? Do you use Firefox? Have you updated any drivers lately?

Thanks for your help!
I have windows XP and Yes I am using firefox I have just checked and have 5 extensions 1 for AVG, 1 for Ebay, 1 for Cashback Comparison, 1 for Real Player and 1 for Talkback? which apparently sends crash info to Mozilla?
Do you think it would be easiest to just get rid of them all and see if that works?0 -
No worries - feel free to click the thanks button

I would remove them all, then put them on 1 by 1 and narrow it down that way. Hopefully that should stop the message coming up.

The typically quoted way to resolve those problems is (in Firefox) to go to Tools, Add-ons, Extensions and click on "Find Updates".
I don't personally know how effective that advice is as I've never had the problem!0 -

Yes - didn't think of that.
catlou - what version of firefox are you using?0 -
Thanks everyone for your help :T - I did mean to press your Thanks button before k1rkyc !!

I would not have had a clue that it was anything to do with firefox!
I have just looked and my version is 2.0.0.15 and I can see that there is now a version 3 so I think I will download that and then see what happens and if I still have problems I will look at the extensions then!
Thanks again - much appreciated.0 -
No worries - the updated version will import all of your add-ons in the install process! Good luck

I have just remembered to write this..........progress update!
I installed the new version of firefox as I said in my previous post and I have not had the problem since!
I have also noticed a huge difference my pc has been running MUCH faster.
So THANKS for all your help & if anyone else has the same problem that does seem to be the solution.
