Insurance for lease car
Would be grateful if anyone (hello Hintza
) could identify companies which are happy to insure a car that is leased, and registered in the name of the leasing company.
Especially interested if anyone with a 'non-standard' job has investigated this (e.g. 'entertainment industry').
Thanks
Dan

Hi,
I have a car on lease, registered to the lease company it was no prob at all to insure it with direct line. But I was changing from a car I owned to a lease car so it was a change mid policy (not sure if this would have made a difference)

Thanks catlover1. I think other people have previously mentioned Direct Line, and I think they will insure people in the media too.
It would be nice to hear of any other companies so I can play them off against each other when I do order my next car, as it seems that with a lease car the MSE method of getting prices online probably won't work..0 -
Anyone else had good/bad experiences of insuring a lease car?

I had a friend who insured her lease car as if it were her own.
She had loads of problems when it was nicked because the car was not registered to her, but in the end the insurers paid out.
She was insured by your major local insurer:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

Hi Gan
Well I have a confession to make the first car I thought I hads insured as a lease car as per my telephone discussion. It was only 12 months later I discovered it hadn't been and had been insured as my OH car. Goodness knows what woulld have happened if there had been a problem.
Interestingly the current car is registered in OH name so we have just insured it as our car.
So the long and short of it is I'm not sure.
Try RAC but I would just do the the confused.com quotes and if not sure give your preferred insurers a ring to check the small print.
Check with the lease company whether it will be your name or not first.0 -
Just be warned that RAC don't allow DoC extension
Might be an issue for you.:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

Try www.moneysupermarket.com you can select that the car is owned by lease company. It then limits quotes to those that will accept lease cars for insurance. For me it came up with Admiral as the only company that would quote.0

It seems fewer and fewer companies do - maybe because of people who do things like insuring Corsas in their name and then going hooning around in their mate's Evo
Thanks to all who've replied - very helpful..0 -

I am probably missing the point, but she could/should have had it insured by Admiral as owned by lease company as they offer that option, so she wouldn't have had any issues on claim.0
