I had a look in the Basildon brancg today and they had about 10, but they were only 800mah.

Nicads will actually probably work better in things like remote controls than nimhs will. Forget using them in torches, cameras, GPS, etc though.

got mine today great for the remote controls and the airwick skooshy thing on the wall that go's through the batteries supplied pretty quickly so saved a few quid on future battery purchase & helping the enviroment from all the old batteries I would have binned

This is my first bargain posted - but I thought it was really worth posting

Yesterday at the Newcastle poundland I found a pack of 4 rechargeable batteries - AA,800mAh, Ni-Cd - ONLY £1!!!

This is what's written on the pack - they are OSEL brand

judging by some of the replies gess some of the above statements aren't true (isn't that false advertising!?!?!) Most of that is not that important to me anyway but at £1, these are certainly the cheapest rechargeables I've seen on the highstreet

Poundland is great for batteries, I'll always go there first

NiCd batteries DO suffer memory effect but you can make them last if you deep-discharge them (i.e. let them run flat before recharging, and charge fully).

These are no good for digital cameras or sat-navs or any high-drain applications by the way 800mAh is measly. But you can't really expect much for a pound!

Been using 800mAh batteries in digital cameras for some time with no problem at all, last ages. No doubt there are better available but for £1 fill your boots.

You're lucky! Generally digi-cams are power hungry because most people like to use the screen and motorised zoom/flash take up power too...

...agreed though - can't go wrong for £1!
