Found by the till in Poundland, pack of 4 AA rechargeable batteries for £1.
I have charged them up and they are working fine

Nursery and toys have a 12 pack of Panasonic AAs for £2.50 which works out slightly cheaper

These are not rechargable, the op's are rechargable.
