Problems with Tiscali

Hi all,
I've been having a problem with tiscali, I switched from Homechoice on November 2007. Since then I had to call every 2 days to see why I didn't have the router and connection for broadband , every call was on average 2 hrs long including the initial waiting and then waiting for the person to find out what happen. Then they say I had to cancel completely and start from scratch which I did, again I had to call for updates which nobody could give me (by the way, each call was like an hour long and it was paid by me). Finally I decided to cancel the accountin march 2008 which can only be done 9 to 6 and handled by really rude people based in the UK.
I saw my bank account a couple of months ago and found they were still taking money from it, so I cancelled my direct debit and couple of days later I received a letter from them saying that I owe them 68 pounds(!)
They have been pestering me for that money and have threatened me to put me in black list if I don't pay. They say I owe them that money for an Internet service that they never provided me and when I call them to the collections dept they treat me really bad and tell me that I have to call to another department (another premium call) when I say they never provided the service they are charging me for.
I think they should do that themselves, they are the same company so why do we, the customers have to spend so much money and stress ourselves to close an account in a company that is so pathetically crap.
Another woman said that I have to send them the welcoming letter from my current internet provider to prove I have a new provider (Madasafish) but they don't send welcoming letters.
When I call tiscali's customer services number they say there is no problem and that I don't owe the anything, but I still receive the threatening calls and letters.
I don't really know how Tiscali gets away with this. Also I've read on the internet that none of the regulators are there to help or are willing to do anything, so when Tiscali takes money they shouldnt and threats people, there is no-one to help you.
Hope anybody can help me sort this matter.
Thanks

Hi, Im with Tiscali and have not had a single problem when I was connected there was a fualt and I phoned up expecting to be on the line all day but 7 mins and 42 seconds later they told me they would refer it futher up the engineer tree and call me back which they did and I cant praise them enough.
Now you need to contact them by email this way if someone tells you you dont have to pay you have proof, that you can use later.0 -
Yes, They told me originally the problem was escalated to an engineer... for 5 months and no one sorted out or said anything about the problem. Good that they'been good with you, but for many people they are a pai in the neck. Now, I need somebody to tell me what should I do, that is why I put this post. vbmenu_register("postmenu_12255789", true); vbmenu_register("postmenu_12255789", true);0
