Conran Rip Off

Hi

I had a Conran CC from MBNA had the 0% for 6 months. I had a statement in Aug 2005 with Est Interest Nest Month £0. With my Sept statement I got Est Interest Nest Month £83.38 the end of my 0%. So I ran up and asked when I needed to pay before I incurred any interest I was told if I paid the full amount before my next statement date I would be ok.

So I paid the full amount and set up the Direct Debit to take the full amount. I rang several days later to confirm the information and to make sure the DD had been setup and it had. I have now checked to see it has gone out in time on the web and I have been charged £89 interest???

I have contacted them and they stated when the Sept statement was produced I was already being charged even though I was told different by 2 MBNA employees. They have said that they can see I have changed the DD but state the info given was incorrect but I still have to pay?

I made 5 payments of £5 and the final 1 for the full amount covering the 6 months.

Is there any recourse re this appalling customer service and incorrect advice?

If they have given you incorrect info which you acted on in good faith and meant they have now charged you I would say you have an excellent case. I presume you have contated them and told them this? Write to them saying if they arent going to refund the interest you will take your case to the ombudsman.
They once did something similar to me  so I asked them for £20 compensation for the inconvenience they caused me :A They paid up :D

Yes I have called them they are not interested they have not taken the money yet . I paid off in full but the interest is due next month. I guess i will have to pay and go through the ombudsman. Who is the ombudsman for disputes with credit cards?
