How to get good quotes

Hi

Soon we will have to get some extensive renovation work done.

The little things we can do ourselves, but there are floorboards and laminate/carpet to fit, some plumbing to do and more than likely some rendering, too.

Have you ever used sites like mybuilder.com? Do you think it could be worth it to aks for quotes there (after a viewing/assessment, of course)?

Every tip and hint is greatly appreciated.

Decide what you want doing before you go looking for quotes. It is impossible to quote for people who aren't quite sure yet what they are going to do.

Don't kid yourself that you will save a lot of money by doing the little things yourself, especially if they are during the other works. To be blunt, you will get in the way. If you can, do some overtime at work (presumably doing whatever it is that you are good at) and use the money to pay someone else to do what they are good at.
