Flamingo Land To Edinburgh

Can anyone advise how / where I may be able to get back to Edinburgh from Travelodge South Cave by bus or rail.

Looked at various rail & bus sites but alas nothing from Hull!

Are you talking Hull, South Cave or Flamingo Land.

From Hull there are trains to the mainline at Selby or Doncaster & possibly York, for South Cave the best bet would be taxi to Brough, then train & for Flamingoland there are trains from Malton - which is a few miles away from Flamingoland to York.

after that it's easy

Unfortunately the Travelodge at South Cave is not on a bus route. Even if you can get to South Cave village, it does not have a train station.

One option is to get a taxi into South Cave village, then catch the bus to Hull. Then you'll need a rail ticket for Hull to Edinburgh. There isn't a direct Hull to Edinburgh train, so you'll have to change at Doncaster station I believe.:rolleyes:

Another option is to get a taxi into South Cave village, then catch the bus to Hull. Then you'll need a coach ticket to Edinburgh. Maybe National Express would be your best bet for a coach ticket?

How are you getting to and from Flamingoland? It's not near South Cave.

If I was in your position, I would hire a car. It'll probably work out cheaper and will certainly be much quicker/more direct than faffing with taxis, buses or trains.;)

We're getting a lift down with a friend but she has to get back to Scotland earlier than us so we intended to stay overnight at Hull South Cave (it seemed to be near F Land). However it does seem a lot of hassle getting home without a car, so I may just cut short the trip and Ebay my Travelodge hotel room.

I think that's a wise decision, especially if you get a lift back with your friend.

By the way, have you looked at a road map to see how far Flamingoland (near Malton) is from South Cave?:eek: Apart from the long distance, the roads aren't very good either, no dual carriageways or motorways in the Malton area.;)

It's about 50 miles each way between South Cave & Flamingoland. I doubt if you'd be able to drive between the two in under 90 minutes and you virtually have to go into York before going out again in order to get between the two.

I'd suspect that getting between between Flamingoland & South Cave without a car involves getting a train to York from Malton, then another one (possibly 2) to get to Brough before taking a taxi to South Cave

I'd cancel your booking at South Cave and find a place in York for the night before catching the train to Edinburgh.

Travelodge BTW have a place in the centre of York
