Student Discount Question...

Are student discounts only applicable to FULL-TIME students? I guess what I'm really asking is do you qualify for discounts etc, if your enroled on an OU course?

If you have an NUS or student card you can get the discounts. I have a student card for my part time course and can pay to have an NUS card (which I haven't bothered to do). A lot of places will give you discount when showing a uni card but others will only if you have NUS.
Not sure if you will get a student card on an ou course but you are probably entitled to an NUS card.
My partner was told when he started uni he is entitled to the same benefits as a part time student as if he were full time.

    Hope this helps.

I'm doing the opennings courses with the OU (10pts) for practice until I got to uni full time in sept 08.
I'm on my second course with them but when I first registered with the OU I then got the NUS extra card for £10 so I'm entitled to all the same student discounts as full time students.

just enter the ou info (if I remember correctly it's a pull down list) and it costs £10.
you have to supply a photo too which will be printed on the back along side teh OU name... I must remember to use mine more often... I'm not used to getting discounts!

I used the discount on Amazon the other day but tried again today and it says it's already redeemed.. perhaps you can only use it once on amazon???? oh well.. I've used my card in lots of book shops, exhibitions including the tours... so it worth getting.. not sure if you should now wait until sept for next years. (sept to sept)
Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later date :o:D
now at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!
