Hello
I need help urgently.
I have just unplugged my Sony dvd player/recorder and now have no channels or sound on my Sony Bravia HDTV.
My PS3 is working fine, but I need my tv. can anyone help me sort it out, I am not very techy minded but will have a go at stuff.
Thanks to everyone who replies.

I unplugged the dvd because I am getting BT vision and I didnt use the dvd much anyway, so I needed the only space available in my cabinet. You live..You learn.:)0

It looks like your aerial lead would be plugged into your DVD recorder and then another aerial lead went from your DVD recorder to your TV.
You need to plug the aerial lead which comes from your aerial socket on the wall into your TV and you should get the channels back.0 -
Espresso, thank you that. I am trying to re-tune the tv but it is saying it cannot find any programmes and please fit aerial, I have plugged the aerial into the tv but am now thinking should it be plugged into the PS3 through a scart cable? Please bear with me I am an OAPYou live..You learn.:)0

Thank you but that does not work.

If I am to fit the BT Vision when it arrives then I need to know how to do it, hence the reason for unplugging the DVD now. I dont want to be without the TV when the Vision arrives and me having no working knowledge of what to do with it!
I had thought that this site would have some helpful advisors , I done not need any sarcastic comments thank you!You live..You learn.:)0 -
It should work. You don't plug the aerial into the PS3 (I don't think there is an aerial socket on it). It should go straight from the wall into the back of the TV.
Are you sure you are putting the correct aerial lead in? It should be the one which went from the wall to the DVD recorder and not from the DVD recorder to the TV.0 -
positive its the only aerial lead in the room, it was plugged into the dvd via scart socket, but now dvd removed no where else it can go but into the tv.Not being technical I dont understand why my PS3 works on the AV1 but my TV obviously needs to be re-tuned, as I have no channels and no sound.Im missing something I know but I cant think what it is.You live..You learn.:)0

The aerial doesn't go in via the Scart socket, it goes in the RF socket.
An aerial lead looks like this:-

Think "pass thru"
you will have had a aerial cable running probably from a wall socket to your dvd recorder.
this will now need to be plugged in to the TV, the cable that ran from dvd recorder to tv is not the same type.
use the correct cable and retune the tv.click here to achieve nothing!0 -
The aerial socket on your wall should look similar to this:-

and the socket on the back of your TV should look like this:-

I cant believe I have been so stupid- I put the aerial lead in the wrong place! Just about sorted it all now just need to sort the channels out on analogue then all done.
Thank you very much for your input though, you got me thinking and a light bulb went off lolYou live..You learn.:)0
