Anyone know if a child actually has to travel with you for the card to be valid, or is just having the child's ticket good enough? We are planning to take my son down to my parents for him to stay there for a week. We would come back the next day, on our own, leaving him there. So, we'd have his ticket, but not him!
The child must be travelling with you.
In your situation, get two sets of single tickets. You will probably end up spending less in total.0 -

3 month ago someone posted a link to the Daily mail offer for a 3 month free trial of the family and friends railcard; this period comes to an end on 30 June. Here is the reminder of how you can buy a new rail card (valid for 1 year) for 50% off the original price (£12)
In order to claim your new railcard go to

Hi
Don't think this has been re-posted recently. Following on from the Daily Mail's 3 month free Family Railcard offer don't forget you can now apply for the ½ price 12 month Family Railcard - use the code DAILYM12 (all in upper case, well apart from the numbers!!) when you buy and it is ½ price = £12
It is not linked to the 3 month free card, so anyone can apply using the code (am I allowed to post the code here?)
