Blotchy Paint

Hello everyone,
I have a small problem with some painting that I’ve done, and I’m hoping someone can offer some advice!
I have painted the chimney breast in the lounge in a red ish colour, over the existing colour which was magnolia, now after several coats I still have a few patches where the new colour looks a shade lighter than the rest of the wall. I’ve waited a day between each coat, doing the painting in the evening after work, so am fairly confident it’s dried properly.
Do you think if I keep paining new coats I’ll get rid of the problem, or is there something else I should be doing?

Some reds are can be difficult to get a good finish.
Depending on the paint, how thick etc.
You should get a decent finish after the 3rd coat, specially over mag.

How long is it taking you do actually paint the wall ?

Reason I am asking is, that in this weather you have to be fairly quick,as by the time you have cut in top, bottom and sides, it will have started to dry, and if you dont roll up to quick enough, you will get patches.

You might be better giving it another coat, but thin the paint down a bit, so its slightly runnier, you will be able to work the paint better than straight from the can, this can cause patches if the paint is too thick.
