A month between closing one MBNA card and opening another should be OK. However, I am not sure whether there is anything that would prohibit you from applying for a Virgin card after you have already been rejected. There might be.

i rang them after getting rejected was worried never been rejected for credit before they said was just the mbna card with 9 k limit that stoped application even though there was nothing on it

Is this a definite rule? So as I have an A&L and Abbey, there would be no point applying for Virgin?
  • I just closed my MBNA platinum, 2 days later (today) i've applied for the virign. Will let you know how it works out. Hoever I applied for about 3 cards last month and 2 store credit accounts so I have a feeling it might be a rejection. I'll appeal with my previous history with MBNA :)

  • Hi,

I was advised that you can apply as soon as you have confirmation that the previous MBNA account is closed. In my case I left it for a week after receipt of confirmation that my old MBNA account was closed before applying to Virgin - application processed with no problems. :)
