Iceland Price increase for less meat

Iceland sell a very popular chilled loin of pork which normally costs £4 for 870 g.

Yesterday they had a new delivery and the price has risen to £5 but the pork now
only weighs 800 g

    Try your local butcher instead.

Although you might get less weight for the same price, I guarentee you it'll be pure meat, rather than bulked up with water as the Iceland one will be!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Seems more like a price increase than a rip off. Many food items are going up in price and will continue to do so. With wheat prices at an all time high alongside fuel prices at an all time high I can't say I am surprised.

yea we do part of our shop in iceland for the delivery of certain heavier items.

I have noticed a few items that have increased in price and reduced in volume. A lot of the staples have i think as poster above said its down to the increase in transport and food costs.

It is definitley worth a visit to your local butcher if you have one. Sometimes its far better to substitute quantity for quality i enjoy it far more.

I'm sure you're right that it isn't a scam, I thought I was having a rant. It just seems such a large increase.

I do shop in our local butcher from time to time funds permitting, and agree the meat is much better quality overall. I haven't shopped at a supermarket on a regular basis for about a year now and can get almost everything I want locally and I too get some larger, heavy items from Iceland. But I do think their loin is very tasty.

We have a grocers shop recently opened locally that sells a lovely bloomer loaf that's made and cooked on the premises for 70p so perhaps I shouldn't complain too much.
