How to travel cheap

The best way to travel cheap is to book cheap hostel accommodation and discount hotels and to book your flight few weeks or months online before you go . booking with credit cards is always the best thing to do, if the company you booked with go bust you can get your money back from your credit card company.

Thanks for the advice I wondered where I was going wrong with staggering into travel agents sipping from bottles of cristal champagne and eating caviar sandwiches and handing out dubloons to all and sundry.
Have you got any other advice, like maybe not eating yellow snow or when the dollar will reach $2.1 to the £.
all the best

I find that the booking fee for hostel accommodation is an unreasonably high proportion of the total cost. And there is no need: a hostel can always find an extra bed for a traveller who just turns up. Plus, the whole point of staying in hostels is that you can be spontaneous.0

If a Hostel booking website or any travel website for that matter, charges you a Booking Fee, whether its 1p or £1 its Too much. No-One should charge you for booking with them, or for using your credit card.
Online Booking Websites and Travel Companies make profit from the Hostels and Hotels, by helping them to sell unsold beds and rooms.
What you get, as the Booker, is a place where you can find different types of accommodations and compare before you book.
The problem with packing your bag and getting there before you start looking for a place to stay, is many large cities, like New York, Rome, Amsterdam and London, especially during weekends, are always sold out, unless if your good at camping out.
The reason I suggested to check out Hostels247.com is because they don't charge booking fee or any credit card charges.
Being spontaneous is good, but not everyone wants to take a chance, I've spent a night on a bench in Amsterdam before because I didn't book ahead, and it wasn't the best experience, I can tell you I won't be doing that again.0 -
And is this your company (as you have a link to it in your signature) ?0
