mortgage advice needed
My hubby and i are trying to buy a house which is in need of modernisation, badly rundown and is an ex council property. We got a survey and valuation done through an estate agents which cost us £360 and then we had to pay £500 to get a full survey done and we are still no closer to getting a mortgage than we were 3 months ago when we had our offer accepted. The mortgage advisor said our full survey was what the mortgage lender wanted only now the lenders are refusing to give us the mortgage because they wanted seperate reports from damp specialists, electricians and builders etc. Is there anything i can do apart from fork out another small fortune on seperate surveys?
Mandie.

Yes, get two quotes for whatever work is required from damp specialists, electricians (NICEIC) and so on. Should not cost anything. Lenders will then want to hold back part of the mortgage, releasing it when the work is done.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
