The Cwmcarn Forest Scenic Drive may not sound exciting but it's a great cheap day out and brilliant for kids. Take a picnic and park your car(s) for free in the lower car park and go into the visitor centre. Pick up some of the free activity packs/sheets for the children and then follow the educational trails. You can take a walk up to Twmbarlum - you'll be able to see your house from up there. Fantastic scenery, the kids can run wild and they'll be shattered at the end of the day.
OOOps - just saw heart-frees post above recommending the same place. Great minds ...0 -
Come to the Big Cheese in Caerphilly if you are about this weekend at Caerphilly Castle, it great, I'm just a big kid when we go! Free entry, free demonstrations, food tasting, fun fair, battle re-enactments, music...everything.

I used to go to the Big Cheese every year, but then when my step son got of an age where he wanted to go on all the big rides, it just got too expensive. The last time I went I was pregnant with my daughter and because it was so crowded and hot it really put me off! But it's a really good event, just try not to spend too much on tat!0
