Wall tile trim or not?

I am having my kitchen done and have bought some mid-grey 10 cm tiles for the wall. The tile shop only had white, black and cream plastic trims. As the worksurface is going to be black I decided to buy a black trim but when I got home thought that the trim would look o.k. along the top but would stand out like a sore thumb on the vertical bits round the right angles. Then decided to go out and buy white trims instead but as the units are cream I'm now thinking I've done the wrong thing again. Would it be better not have any trim at all and get the tiler to just grout down the right angle bits? Don't know what colour grout to use. If the tiler doesn't cut the plastic well presumably the gap will have to be filled with grout. I'm beginning to lose the will to live. Any suggestions please.

Perhaps go to some different shops to see if they have grey trimsPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I think it looks better with trim if you can't get matching edging tiles. Both Wickes and B&Q have a selection of trims. I found Wickes were cheaper.

Get grey trim. Anything else will look like carp...you know this!!
Someone somewhere will have it for sale. Try Topps Tiles or any other independent tile warehouse.0 -
Thank you. I agree it must be a grey trim. Topps Tiles is where I bought the tiles from however and they don't sell grey. Does anyone know where I can get grey trim from near Haywards Heath, West Sussex? I can buy them on line but would like to see what colour grey it is. I only need 4 so maybe they wouldn't post them anyway as they are difficult things to package.0

I searched everywhere for grey trim recently with no luck. The only places I could find were online, and they tended to need bulk purchases, as you say. Considering how many grey tiles are out there, it's a mystery why there's no trim.
Have you talked to your tiler about it - if anyone's going to have access to secret grey tile trim suppliers, it'll be him!0 -
I'd stick with plain white grout though, I know someone who has used black grout and it's hideous, it looks like the kids have gone crazy with those Black Jack sweets!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions. I finally tracked down a shop that could order grey trims for me, made by Image. They're great.0

Glad it worked out for you Serida.
The consensus seems to be to use colour-matched trim.
I've chosen a swirly sandstone patterned wall tile that's predominantly cream (with brown swirls). So should I use cream coloured trim?
I was about to select a contrast and was opting for a metal look trim. I think it is aluminium and am a bit concerned about how it will clean up and whether it will scratch or react to bathroom cleaners. I was choosing it for a modern look but it's more expensive than the plastic trim and I'm really not sure it will look right....:o
Any advice on this?0 -
Hi all,Glad to hear Serida you found grey - I'm looking for a sort of chocolate/ burgandy for a feature wall. Do you know where the person that got your grey sourced it? I can't believe that its so hard to find different colours - that aluminum looks so wrong with a lot of tiles...CheersCarys0
