My daughter got married at Christmas and had fun casino tables which were very popular, so popular that people were gategrashing from a corporate ball being held elsewhere in the hotel! The ball was selling very popular bacon butties at midnight too.My daughter had already had these earlier in the evening instead of an evening buffet and everyone thought this a very good idea.

If it is a Winter/ Ice theme how about an Ice Bar? Like an ice sculpture that you pour vodka/ other drinks through so it is nice and cold when it comes out at the bottom. I'm desperate to have an excuse to get one for a party, they look fab!

Would it be terribly off-theme if Santa was there? He could pose for pictures and give out little gifts in exchange for charitable donations.

I don't know how creative you feel or how many people will be at the ball, but I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to make those cookies if you bought cutters, an icing bag and some little silver balls. It would be dead cheap too.
