Whoops - forgot password for Excel file.

OK so this is probably a stupid thing to have done - but I've forgotten what the password is to get into an Excel file (which funnily enough contains a list of user names and passwords!).
Any ideas how to go about getting in?
Thanks

I've used this one to recover part of a password. Hopefully it'll be enough to give you an idea what the full password is
For passwords I'd prefer to download from a trusted website rather than something I've googled

Wouldn't you have been better providing the link to the page where the viewer could choose whether or not they wanted to download a programme, rather than launch it straight into download as soon as you click your link???

Try Excel Password Remover. It doesn't tell you what the password is, just removes it so you can open the sheet and set a new one.0

I didn't want to just download any old utility without at least some form of recommendation. The Password Remover is no good as it's the whole file which is password protected. I've installed the utility but as I can't open the workbook it's no good.
Thanks anyway.0 -
Soz, I've just realised the Password Remover only removes protection on the internal sheet or workbook, not the actual .xls file. Programs for that seem to cost something, though the trial versions have limited functionality, e.g. cracking passwords up to 4 characters long.0

Because my version gives a window that asks me if I want to download perhaps?Curry_Queen wrote:Wouldn't you have been better providing the link to the page where the viewer could choose whether or not they wanted to download a programme, rather than launch it straight into download as soon as you click your link???
