I live in a second floor flat in 5 floor building moved in just under a year ago, anyway with all the rain the past few days my window has developed quite a bad leak. The windows are old and it was pointed out in survey that they would need replacing at some point(but not flagged as important) and i just havent had the cash to get them done-cant get loan cos not working just now due to illness. As far as i can tell the seal of the window is what is leaking.
Obviously i am quite concerned that my flat will be damaged by the water etc or that it will get worse. Is this the sort of thing you can claim on buildings insurance? I am totally clueless about insurance and dont have a clue.
Can someone help please.

Sorry, but it is very unlikely that you would be able to claim for the windows, as it would be considered wear & tear. If you have accidental damage on your contents, you may be able to put in a claim for any contents damaged by the water. You would need to contact your insurers fairly quickly though, if you leave it for weeks or months, when you are aware of the problem, it would be excluded as a gradually operating cause.
