You need a good book. Try 'The Gods that Failed' by larry Elliott and Dan Atkinson. It'll cheer you up......not. That's if you want a bit of 'Disaster based leisure time'.....a new concept?

I've been reading an absolutely fascinating series of books set in a Cambridge College, Michaelhouse, in the 1350s. They are absolutely fantastic, but I've nearly finsihed the last one!

Wow - sounds all very high-brow.

MichaelHouse is named after the parish church if my memory serves me correctly. Cambridge is a lovely city - I went there for a conference and they gave us a bit of a history tour of Trinity etc.

Talking of Oxbridge - I just love watching Inspector Morse. I've got the whole box set and so can watch them as and when. Its great when they're repeated on TV though.

It's the other way around - the church of St. Michael belonged to Michaelhouse (or, the more formal name, which was very long indeed).

When Henry VIII disolved religious foundations, he also closed a number of places in Cambridge. Michaelhouse, together with another college, Kings Hall, and a few hostels became Trinity College instead. Another convent became Jesus College.

They aren't highbrow, but are great to read.

What's the name of the books NDG? They sound interesting and I only have 3 books in my pending pile.

Well may as well hijack another of Mr B's threads to chit chat about moi.;)

And NDG is out there too, sitting by the fax or with toddler who won't sleep.

It's OK. Am up in Leicester factory on Monday sorting out big asos order. Shop busy busy (visitor season; though most are a little stout for our stuff...we only go up to 16......so we flog them a bag instead).
Dreading the winter but we are re-fitting and changing again in Sept.

Lifestyle (hate that word) store. My lifestyle; combo of derelict, remade chic and London, wannabe, sassy chic...all merged into products for twenty quid......and Made in UK.

Don't know why I bother really...but it's part of me.

While we're indulging in thread hijack, I started at New Hedge Fund on Tuesday. They've made me a partner which is great news.

I've got a ton of stuff to learn but it's going well so far.

RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

They are by Susanna Gregory, and the first is "A Plague on both your Houses", set during the Black Death.

Althuogh the first couple are still great, the series gets better as she goes along. I'd highly recommend them.
