August holiday in Madeira ??

I am restricted to a two week period in August for a special holiday ... was considering Madeira ... no recent threads on this destination so starting a new one.

I have been looking at 'directline' as a cost comparison site ... are there any other recommendations for shaving piunds off (budget is tight and Madeira seems quite pricey?


Also, any other advice / info about Madeira would be greatly appreciated.

Mercury Direct offer quite a few hotels in Madeira but I haven't compared their prices.

Try https://www.atlanticholidays.net. Easyjet now fly there from Stansted and Bristol if you want to go independent.

We loved Madeira - plenty to see and do, great food, great people, stunning scenery. I advise a car if you are confident about driving on mountain passes (strawberry-autos.com are recommended), otherwise there are organised tours (Strawberry do these too), the bus services are good and cheap, or a taxi driver will take you out for the day for a reasonable fee.
