ok basically my washing machine is on the blink it's only a cheap one £179 type and lasted 3.5 years. is it going to be cheaper to buy a new one or call a scary guy out to fix it!?:eek: i know it would depened on the problem but whats the cheapest it would set me back to even get someone to come and look at it? any experience anyone?

Ah, the on the blink problem. There apparently are some places, shops or forums on line that if you contact them they will have a guess at the problem, and the shops will definately know how much the part cost.GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.

Unfortunately the spare parts for cheaper washing machines are not any cheaper so make most repairs uneconomical. eg. a controller circuit board could be near to £100.
You mentioned a thermostat in the other post, if it is something simple like a thermostat then you might get it done for around £50 with labour. Although many modern washing machines do not have conventional thermostats and the temperature is controlled electronically by the controller circuit board.
Ask on the ukwhitegoods forum as there are washing machine engineers on there who should be able to give you a better idea :
