How to get to Alton Towers?!!

I'll be leaving from Chester station. I want to get there for 10am but I don't want to be on the train for 5 hours!!!

Can anybody help me plan my journey?
Are there any trains that go close by, and then perhaps a bus that goes to Alton?

The nearest train station to Alton Towers is Stafford, with regular bus services from there to the park. For train times and fares, call National Rail enquiries on 08457 48 49 50. (24 hrs, call may be recorded, local call rate applies).

also have you tried looking at coach trips? im pretty sure national express run them

The closest railway station to Alton Towers is Uttoxeter from where shuttle bus services operate throughout the day to Alton Towers.

It takes 1hr30 with a change at crewe to get to uttoxeter.
Would suggest you get a chester to crewe return 8.60.
Then a crewe - alton twrs(cent) at 33.40 (WHICH INCLUDES THE PARK ADMISSION)

Alton Towers
Theme park – combined rail/bus/admission ticket

Joint rail/admission day return tickets are available on a "turn up and go" basis from selected stations to Alton Towers via a bus link from Uttoxeter. This ticket combines discounted rail/bus travel and admission to Alton Towers. The outward part of the ticket will need to be exchanged on the bus connection for the entry ticket to Alton Towers.

Fares
Through fares are available from Crewe, Derby, Grantham, Leicester, Liverpool, Loughborough, Nottingham, Sheffield, Beeston, Tamworth, Burton on Trent, and Long Eaton.

The ticket is valid on all train operating company's services that operate from the origin station on permitted routes to Uttoxeter. Travel is available on a turn up and go basis with no pre booking required.

Only Standard Day Return ticket types can be used to issue these tickets and where available are shown in Section C of NFMs.

This ticket is not available to unaccompanied children.

Discounts

Railcard discounts are not available with this ticket, as the rail fare element has already been discounted. Child (aged 5-15) fares are available but are non-standard discounts.

Does anyone know the cost of the X30 bus service from Uttoxeter to Alton Towers and also whether this is cheaper than the 32A run by first?

Any help appreciated.
