The question should be about where you are going to get the source media from though. These types of media players depend on mostly downloaded media content in divx or ripped straight from DVD. If you have a large proportion of digital media that you want to play you would be better setting up an xbox media centre. There was a thread on here about the original xboxes being sold for £20 at game a while back and exactly how to turn it into a media centre. Connect it to your home network and job's a good un.
Personally I would just buy a PS3 as the most cost effective way of getting a blu ray player including a leading edge games console.0 -
quality depends on what media format you are playing. compared to an original disk you will notice some difference unless you are playing a direct rip of that media. vcdquality is a site that you might want to check out for discussions on quality of media available0

Hi Justin
I have the modded xbox with xmbc :j ,but this is unable to play high def files:( . I think that alot of media soon will be HD so trying to get ready for the change0 -
I would still go for the PS3 as you probably have a device perfectly capable of playing HD media output in the form of your current home pc (or it could be upgraded for less than the cost of this media device you linked)
Wait 12 months then see what options are available if you still want a stand alone player. Also with companies clamping down on downloads getting the HD content with its massive file sizes is something to think about too.0 -
Thanks for your input justin
