Sentinel Card Protection

Hopefully, I'm not getting too off-topic here...

I've had this Sentinel Card protection provided free from my bank for years. Now I am moving accounts, I'm not sure if it's worth paying for, but as it includes cover for your passport and driver's license, I thought I'd try and see how it went if I went for it. In the past I've had as many as 5 or 6 cards on it, so it would save me quite a lot of time cancelling my cards if I were to get my wallet pinched.

Can anyone recommend where I can look to get it? Not sure if I can get it through one of my existing cards (and pay for it of course), but would like people's suggestions.

I'm not sure either - that's why I've never had it.

You have 5 or 6 cards in your wallet? Why? I have 2 (Switch & Mastercard) and their cancellation/emergency numbers are stored on my mobile phone.

I knew someone would comment on that.
I have one Amex and one Visa. The rest are comprised of my debit cards and a few corporate cards, which are included just in case.

I suppose I could do the same with emergency cancellation numbers, but your stuffed if:

    1. Your phone is stolen;
    2. Your passport and driving license go with them too (esp. whilst abroad)

I posted the same post about a month ago when I was offered the protection, I did a bit of research and discovered that for me at least, there would be absolutely NO benefit in having the protection.

Buy a new phone and put the numbers back in from your paperwork at home. ;)

My only response here is to look after them whilst your travelling and use the hotel/hotel room safe!

I don't think they will do much except tell you what to do about getting a replacement to let you travel back (go to the embassy).

When I travel I scan my passport back page and any visas, travel insurance documents and any other paperwork I take with me and then email them to myself at Hotmail. That way if they are all lost I can print out copies at the nearest Internet cafe. That will help when applying for replacements.

I have this cover and have used it twice in the past 18 months.
The first time was to cancel my cards after my purse was stolen - simple but easy.
The second was when my handbag was stolen at Sainsburys - I borrowed someones mobile and phoned my hubbie who rang them within 10 mins of the incident. The thief tried to use my cards 5 mins later...... they had been cancelled by then, but it would have been impossible for me to do that in that time.
So if your bag is stolen everything is in it.... no phone etc.
I also have a lot of cards - I run 2 businesses, so have a switch card for each, personal switch and personal credit card. It's easy for them to mount up even if you aren't carrying cards unnecessarily!
You can also add Nectar and Boots cards I think. These can add up to a lot if you save the points up.
It isn't a lot of money for a very convenient and efficient service.
I also think the passport thing is good if you are abroad - they will sort it out rather than you having to go to all the trouble of tracing the number.
You never know how good an insurance is until you have used it - and this one worked well for me.
    Regards
