Cheap Train Tickets

Hi everyone,
I am wanting to book train tickets for September, which is now only 12 weeks away, and the advice before has been to book as early as possible to get the cheapest tickets.
Unfortunately there are no cheap tickets available travelling from Long Eaton to London St Pancras, and returning 13 days later.
I know that they are simplifying the tickets according to the national rail website, and just wondered if anyone knew what was happening with the tickets and whether we will still be able to get cheap tickets.
East Midlands trains should have singles for about £11 each way as far as I know but the only tickets appearing in searches on thetrainline and raileasy are standard open returns.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks

The advice is to LOOK as early as possible and book when the cheap tickets become available - which may be anything from 8 to 12 weeks in advance depending on a lot of factorspenny_1980 wrote: »I am wanting to book train tickets for September, which is now only 12 weeks away, and the advice before has been to book as early as possible to get the cheapest tickets.0 -
Hiya,
I used to book train tickets from Newcastle to London for cheap in the past, but when I looked for October today it was £198 return for 2 people! Do I need to wait closer to the time? I thought the earlier you booked the cheaper they were! It's not on a bank holiday or school holiday.0 -
We have been trying to get cheap tickets from Nottingham to London with East Midland Trains they have been advertising cheap fares in the local paper but i can not find any ,have e mailed them without any luck i think they should have to publish when the cheap tickets are available IT MAY BE THEY HAVE ONE SEAT PER TRAIN!!!!0

thanks to everyone for their comments, I was under the impression that the tickets were released 12 weeks in advance.
I guess I will need to keep watching!!0 -

Thanks for this, is there anywhere you can tell what the latest date is with cheap fares without typing in things manually?
If you go to this site:
http://www.atoctravelagents.org/
and follow the booking horizons link (towards the bottom left), it will give you a pretty good idea of what's been released. It's sometimes a little out of date - I think it's updated about once a week - and occasionally inaccurate, but it's the best there is.
SOME of the TOCs have the info prominent on their website for their own trains - FGW certainly do.0
