I've been asked by an elderly relative to buy an ipod on their behalf for a younger family member. Technology is not my strong point and my 82 year old relative probably knows as much about ipods as i do!!
Where do i start?
Basically there isn't budget but obviously want value for money and whichever one we decide on i want it as cheap as possible. ALso once you have your ipod, can you download songs form the internet and 'load them up' onto your ipod?I understand the nano ipods are the really thin ones that are advertised heavily on telly at the minute. Are they any good? I understand you can get them as 2 or 4gb is that 'big' enough memory?.
I've also seen the 60GB ipods that hold 15000 songs. Seems like far too big memory but does this machine have any advantages? Also is this machine 'thicker' and heavier than the nanos? Is this a problem?
What would you techies recommend? It's going to be used for listening to songs [person has a pretty large CD collection], listening to audio books etc etc NOT for photos. Also when i say "ipod" i mean any brand of machine - if you know what i mean.
HELP!!!

Might be handy to read this thread about ipods and nano v other mp3 players, also similar questions have allready been asked many a time and i suppose it really boils down to a few things and people have differant opinions too, my preference is the creative micro zen 5gb which stores more than enough music for all the family to listen to in a fortnight holiday, its easy to use by even our youngest, now from what i read the ipod mini has battery issues and they can only be resolved by sending it to apple and get them to change the battery at £50 ish or someone very technical who can maybe replace the battery, also the ipod doesnt come with the mains charging lead as standard so that has to be purchased and added to the price, also the new ipod nano seems to have issues allready with the screen being easily scratched and hasnt been around long enough to put the battery to test.
Is the relative that the mp3 is to be bought for female? if so it would be cool and trendy to buy the micro zen in pink, but it also comes in various other colours to suit male too ie black and silver and blue.
The ipod to many is the cool trendy thing to have regardless of the above discrepencies and a lot of people ask 'is it an ipod' or 'have you got an ipod' and the micro is the dependable one.
As ive said my opinion only;)The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
