Thomas Cook Price increase

On Saturday I booked a flight with Thomas Cook flight through the agency Just the flight to Innsbruck on Feb 14th 2009 the price was £226 each seat for 5 people. The booking was completed over the internet the full amount was taken and I received an e-mail confirming the booking. On wednesday I received a phone call from Justtheflight stating that the wrong price had been entered by Thomas Cook on their website and the correct price was over £1000 each ticket. Can Thomas Cook do this ? surely I entered into a contract paid my money and should be entitled to the tickets at the agreed price. The agent got back to me to say TC would reduce the price to 399 each ticket but I still dont feel this is either fair or ? legal.
Any help would be appreciated

£1000 to fly to Austria, ouch!
Look at the Thomas Cook website and look at their flight prices......0 -
I have no knowledge of the law on cases like these, and you will be in receipt of the terms & conditions of the booking, so i would check that.
that said, if this had happened to me, i would fight it all the way. You entered into a contract that was immediately paid and completed on your part, and i cannot see how they can legally get away with changing it now.
i have seen a mention on this forum for a legal expert re travel problems linked to the holiday truths website, and i'm sure one of the wiser MSE'ers will be along soon with info and possibly even a link.
there is also a very interesting thread about the Sandals 2 for 1 offer that ran just like your story, and it appears those people have had their bookings honoured after a bit of a battle and sticking it out.
do a seach on this forum for them both and you will glean some great advice. good luck and keep us informed of your progress

I have just looked at the Thomas Cook Website, for 5 people to Innsbruck on 14th Feb returning 7 days later from heathrow.
The British Airways flights are £1,095 each!!!
Austrian £331 each
Thomas Cook £206
Flight times do vary though......0 -
I think if you follow the Thomas Cook £206 a little further you will then get the inflated price which they are now trying to charge me instead of the £2206 plus agents fee of £20 surely this is mis selling as well0

sorry above should read £206 plus agents fee0

Hi, please see post titled Sandals Discount SCAM! (not really a good title but i didnt start it!) Quite a few of us had this issue with Sandals and they ended up honouring it - i'm sure its worth a big push and mails to watchdog, papers etc.
Good luck:T0
