Incorrect prices in catalogue...

If a company has an item listed in a catalogue at a very low price, which is obviously an error, where does the consumer stand on purchasing this product.
For example one company similar to Argos has a flatscreen TV listed in their catalogue for £2.98. This is a blatant error as i believe it should read £289 (in line with the price of similar TV's in the catalogue)
Is the company obliged to sell it to you at the advertised price?

Is the company obliged to sell it to you at the advertised price?
...no, sorry. Would have been a great bargain

Nope. And 99.9% of companies now have a clause in the T&Cs that a contract is only formed when they have accepted your money; until then any offer is 'an invitation to treat'.0

No they are not obliged to sell you it, its a invitation to treat. They are obliged to not charge you the higher price though if you dont agree with the difference0

Are you sure it's not £2.89 a week?
