British gas screwed us

Right were do i start,
British gas have just sent us(buisness) our last 5months bills all in one go and have charged us an availablilty charge of £155 per month,which is just the cost of the electricity being available for us to use? before we actually use any,and then on top of that is the cost of the amount we have used(average £40 p/m).
Now they said that is high but have shown no interest in resolving the problem as we never signed a contract with them,purely because we were never asked to,so we called the ombusedman and they said there is nothing we can do and british gas can charge us whatever they want,BECAUSE we never signed a contract.
They want around £900 off us for 5months

The buisiness is finished (partner wanted out)and i have just started it back up myself and i have now agreed to a contract with british gas myself with a availability charge of,GET THIS £24 p/m,which is what we should have been charged before.
Please help as this could stop me in my tracks and use up the cash i have put aside to get started again

have just emailed my complaint to bbc watchdog program,lets see if it gets picked up on.

Dont really have an answer for that to be honest mate,
I was just gonna tell them to stick it and take me to court but the other guy(ex buisiness partner) wants to pay as he said he/we would get black listed for not paying and if we go to court and lose,then there will be more costs involved.
I am hoping someone on here can help me out or if not then see if BBC WATCHDOG program is interested in the story.
I might give them a call on monday eve when its on ,only thing is i am sure someone else on here said there no. is a expensive per min charge.
