got behind with tv licence monthly payments, so was paying double each month to keep up- just had letter saying as no longer part of the monthly scheme (arrears?), they have sent money back- want full amount straight away!

What? I am not entirely sure what your vent is here - that they have sent a letter before refunding the money? Or do they want the full amount straight away? You may need to be a little clearer for any helpful responses...

That is quite normal with quite a few Companies that let you pay in installments. It usually states in the T&C's that if you fail to keep up the regular agreed payments then you forfeit the right to pay in installments and the full amount becomes payable immediately.

Have you tried ringing them up to discuss it?

Don't understand how you were paying double to catch up if it sounds like TVL don't offer this option? Did someone say you could do this, and if so, why have they now changed their mind?

The OP was paying double to catch up on their missed payments - quite natural for TVL to ask them to do this. They've changed their minds on offering installment payments because the OP has proven to be a poor payer.

well, waiting for a new payment card (no doubt with increased instalments)..

have banked their cheque as sending back / getting recredited may take ages and/or confuse their computer.. so they can wait for their money!
