Taxi or train in Paris?

Hi all,
OH and I are going on honeymoon to Paris in August. However, it's the first time either of us have flown or been abroad. We're flying to Charles De Gaulle airport, but our hotel is a few hundred metres away from The Louvre. I have absolutely no idea about the trains! Would it be cheaper/easier to get a taxi or go by train? Has anyone been before and have an idea of the cost?

Many thanks for any help!

Easiest but most expensive would be a taxi. Its been a few years, but I would expect a taxi into central paris to be about £40.

Apart from that theres a really good bus which goes directly into central paris, or you can take the train / metro.

Both are really good options but it depends how much luggage you have & exactly where your hotel is located. You should be able to easily find online routemaps for the train & bus.

We used the metro, it was quite cheap and easy to use; the staff at C de G station were very helpful in getting us the correct tickets.

It took quite a while though & we didn't have much luggage; it would be a pain if you have a lot to carry.

Compromise - get the train from CDG to Gare du Nord and then get a taxi from there to your hotel. If you don't know the area, trying to find your hotel from the metro is a pain and the locals won't help!

Fantastic location for a honeymoon however - lots of advice on different threads on what to do in Paris.

Here is a map of the Paris metro and rail network:

Don't get off at the Gare du Nord, but stay on the train one more stop to:
Chatelet/Les Halles and take a taxi from there (saved you €20).
