it works at the user account screen but as soon as everything loads it wont work!The scroll is working tho! Very infuriating,,,,tried updating synaptics driver....tried system restore...but no good....any ideas?

You've probably deactivated the click somehow if it works before you logon then doesn't after your profile has loaded.
Have you checked the settings via control pannal?
