Eco Eye electricity monitor - worried now...

Hi everyone

i am not sure if anyone can help but I am having difficulty setting my Eco-eye up.

1. Cannot get it to accept the costs even when I enter an incorrect figure the readings still register at 0.000
My provider states 9.88pence per Kw and the meter only goes to 5 with 3 decimal places...... I was never any good at maths!!
It does talk about cost per hour...... not sure

2. It does not seem to be reading anything...... It states that the cable is usually on the right and coloured red or brown - mine are grey but some have tiny red collars...... however the clip thing seems loose and have tried the cable the goes into the house and the one from the meter to the timer (soem thing to do the Economy 7 I thought but still no readings.

There is the main black cable in the seems a little thicker but not sure if should use this one.

I hope some more technically minded can help as it is a lot of money from a small budget to spend if it does not work.

  • Its me again - the one who cannot do maths or technical stuff!

I think I have worked out that 9.88 pence is entered as 0.098. this I have done but still no figures on the readings - puzzled.

I have had another look at the meter and there is a wire on the right with a tiny red collar but it is too tight to get the clip around...... it then goes down inot a another box and then out of the bottom and into the house..... even more puzzled.

er who cares, really what you use?? Use it and pay for it. If not just shut down the whole household from the leccy board. Are you saying that you spent cash on this and you are thinking of getting the remote access control unit as well? Life's too short and all that. Bye
  • hi Loaner

It does not appear that the hand shake symbol is visable at all......

I really do not understand total solutions reply...... i am not planning to buy another remote control access unit..... i dont believe I said I would be doing that.....

Not that I have to justify my reasons for buying this but I have two teenagers who use loads of electrical items and feel that Mum constantly asking to turn them off is just nagging. I want to be able to give them an idea in monetary terms how much they are costing.

    Hi Well done loner :)

Divide the quarterly electrical charge by 90 (days) to get a daily figure.
If you have an electrical item it's goner cost, so Dont buy one and dont plug it in.

Get them to contribute to the family pot...
