Egg stopping credit card following move to Channel Islands

I recently moved to Jersey, and dutifully told banks, utility companies, post office and credit card providers of my new address.
Fine.
Six months later I tried to use my Egg card (having sucessfully used it during this time) and it was declined. Phoned them to find out why - was told that Egg did not provide credit cards to Channel Island residents 'because of the different tax laws'
I stated that the other 2 credit card providers had no problem with this, so why should they - no satisfactory response.
I asked them to then freeze the account and add no more interest, as this was instigated by them, so I should be given the opportunity to repay the balnce and close the account - no such luck!
Does anyone know what the official stand on providing cards to Channel Island residents is? My husband has just sucessfully applied for an RBS card with no problems.
Thanks for any replies!!

So as a previuos UK mainland resident, who has moved to Jersey with my job, is it unacceptable to ask them to freeze the account? Why should I be paying interest on an account I can't use?0

I think your best way forward here is to BT the debt across to your husbands RBS card ASAP.
If you've no immediate intention of coming back to the UK mainland, then close the Egg card down, and make sure it's showing as settled on your CRA reports, so it doesn't hinder future credit applications.
If you're coming back "soon", then contact Egg to see if you can "resume" your contract in order to take advantage of the anniversary period.0 -
I'm moving to Jersey next week and have an Egg card. Thanks for the heads up, I don't think I will be notifying them of my move. Sorry about your prediciment (sp?) though."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

Oh I'm staying! Salary has doubled, views of France from my house - and minimal tax - i'd be daft not to!
Thanks for your reply0 -
You'll love it here! Are you moving over with work? I think there are many more advantages to living here than disadvantages like the Egg card!0

I'm changing jobs, applied directly to my new employers who are a Jersey company.
I am in no doubt there are many benefits about moving to Jersey, otherwise I wouldn't have taken the plunge!!
