Shoe glue

Options
Hi,

I wonder if anyone can recommend a good glue to use on shoes. My OH's shoes are coming away at the soles and he bought them too long ago to take them back - although they're in really good condition otherwise.

In the past we've tried superglue, contact glue, all sorts, but nothing seems to stick shoes well. I wonder what they use in the industry ...

Anyone got any ideas?

Many thanks.

I take my shoes for repair to a cobbler. I don't use the well known high street (eg Timpsons) chain, I take mine to a back street cobbler. ;)

His shop might not be as clean and well organised as the high street version but his prices are excellent (cheap) and his work is first class. A good cobbler will also repair other leather items like handbags and briefcases.

Woolworths always used to sell shoe resoling kits including glue. Do they still?
  • They do in the Rushden branch of Woolies!

What brand of shoes are they? We've had repairs done for free by Lotus and Clarkes long after 12 months. The attitude in the shop was that the shoes should 'wear out', not fall to pieces.

We had one pair where the soles cracked after about 12 months wear, they were resoled for free about 6 times. They were Lotus I think.

So it might be worth a try.

Actually, they're Clarks. We bought them about 18 months ago but my OH hasn't worn them that much. The bottom of the soles are a bit worn down but you're right - it might we worth a trip back to Clarks. Thanks for that.

i recogn they'll just say, 'Sorry, its ware and tear, we cannot do anything about it!' and break your heart! haha!

but you can try and use a hot glue gun if u have one handy!

    Good Luck,
