hey guys, i am moving in with my partner, giving up my council home and moving in with him (200 miles away) he has his own house and works full time, i however wont be starting work till prob next year i have 2 children 1 by my partner..
is there a way i can add my name to his morgtage?
his fixed rate is ending this year..
what if we split up? will i be left homeless (baring in mind i have 2 children 1 by him) ? not that we will or anything its just it is a big step, we have been together 4 years long distant, and i am finally ready to move up there with him..
thankyou for any help/advice you can give..

If you have no income, the answer is probably "no", especially with the tightening of the mortgage market.
And yes, you could be made homeless if you split up.0 -
Not if she has been living with him for longer than 6 months and her name is on the mortgage, I was under the impression that as they have a child together then this matters as a home needs to be provided for said child.Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0

You could try and get some advice from Citizens Advice, or see if a local solicitor offers a free advice session.
Maybe keep a diary and record any contributions that you make to the family home.
I presume that your partner may be able to claim some sort of tax credits, unless you are going to be working and claiming them.
As a final thought, maybe keep a bank account of your own, and try and build up a little rainy day money, even if it's only £5 or £10 here and there.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0
