This product is really expensive. By the time your doggy is up and racing around, your bank balance will be feeling decidedly weaker! I give my beloved pooch glucosmine tablets. The cheapest I've found are usually the Holland and Barret sale with 75% off. I spent about £6 on 90 1000mg tablets. A lot cheaper than the joint care treats which are about £10 for 21. He's been taking them for nearly two years and is much better...probably should be taking them myself!

How many tablets do you give him?"Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering"0

Hi,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I give my golden retriever 1 - 1000mg tablet every day. He thinks he's in doggy heaven when he has his bullet-sized pill hidden in a sticky piece of malt loaf!

ps: he's just been to the vet for his annual booster and service etc. The vet was really pleased with him and said keep doing whatever you're doing!0

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I was told by either my vet or vet nurse (I forget which) that if you are going to give your dog human glucosamine tablets/capsules, you should get the glucosamine HCL because most of them are glucosamine sulphate, and dogs cannot metabolise that as effectively.
EDIT: cos as snowman2 says, I'd got them the wrong way round. What a typo to make.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
Handy to know - my dog is still quite agile but its useful to know for the future - thanks! My gran is also on these and still lives at home, alone, at 93, so that's a recommendation! She also takes cod liver oil and vitamin C every day though :-)0

Cat & Dog Glucosamine is the hydrochloride (HCl) whereas the human version is the sulphate. It does make a difference to the absorption of the drug. The dog versions may also have Chondroitin sulphate, Manganese and Vit C included.0
