Email-to-fax service

I occasionally need to send/receive faxes, but it's quite rare so I don't want to pay much. I can already receive faxes on an 0870 number via a free service, but I need a good way to send faxes. Can someone recommend an email-to-fax service with the following characteristics:
  1. Not too expensive
  2. Allows you to pay just enough for what you want to use (i.e. you don't have to buy £10 of credits to start)
  3. Allows you to transmit a PDF attachment containing several pages, and NOT the text in the email body.
I have tried Gradwell email2fax which satisfies point 2. They charge 20p per sheet which is rather expensive but for occasional use it's OK. However, this service fails on point 3. It generates a cover page based on the text in the email body - unfortunately if I use my work email this includes the corporate email privacy statement etc. I have contacted their technical support to see if it's possible to remove this, but I'm not too hopeful.

This doesn't answer your question, and I know it's annoying to have someone answer a question with a question, but...

If you're using Windows, have you considered using the fax program that comes built-in?

Because it "looks" like a printer, it should be easy to send PDF's, and good old 56k modems are so little used these days that you'll probably get offered several with a "Wanted" ad on Freecycle. Or new they're less than £7 from Ebuyer.

Fwor is probably got the best idea.

your computer may already have a modem on it (Depends on it's age and if it was prebuilt.)

Otherwise you can pick up Modems very cheaply and send them yourself.

Thanks... I have considered this although it's not ideal. For one thing, I would like to be able to send faxes while I'm at work (and I don't want to use company fax machines for personal faxes - especially if they are to international numbers).

I think my computer at home already has a modem... I've probably got a couple at the bottom of a desk drawer somewhere as well!

That's why I thought TPC would be ideal, as it allows you to send faxes from a webpage, bypassing your work's email.

Sorry Belnahua, our posts must have crossed - my previous post was in response to the suggestions I used a modem.

I had a quick look at TPC but it doesn't seem to allow PDF attachments and don't cover all the countries I want to be able to fax. It might be useful for some occasions but not as a general solution.
