Shower mixer problem

It has a chrome switch so you can either have the water through the shower head or through the bath spout. The problem is that if you want water through the bath spout and turn it fully to that position, you get water through both the shower head and the bath spout, it doesn't shut off water to the shower head.
Is it likely to be a washer or something simple to fix?

Fairly simple to do, switch water off first just in case something goes wrong, undo small screw or allen key underneath pull knob up, some have nut at top instead, replace Oring, lubricate with soap, replace.0

Sounds Ok, need a plumber to do something else so will get them to do this as well, just don't want to have to have the mixer replaced.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
