Finding a holiday cottage in the UK?

Hi
Due to selling our house, moving into rented and all the upheaval involved, I have yet to book a summer holiday for the family and my kids break up in 2 weeks:eek: . We have decided to stay in the UK as it will be cheaper and would like a self-catering cottage holiday (maybe in Yorkshire but can't afford to be fussy!!!)
I have been looking at various cottage holiday sites but I'm getting very frustrated at having to check each individual week for availability. What I would like to do is to put in the range of dates we can do and all the other details such as number of guests etc and then search. Does anyone know of any cottage websites which would do this? Also, can anyone recommend any good cottage websites please?
Cheers

Claremac,
www.cottages4you.co.uk are the people I use, they have an availability search where you can put the area that you wish to stay.
Hope that helps,

There is availability for Yorkshire cottages on ebay. I have seen one for a week in Richmond for £290 which seems much cheaper than the others. What is your budget?

Try www.iknow-yorkshire.co.uk
They have a late deal section.
I booked in Shepherds Cottage in Hawes for a long weekend it was great. This is the website....http://www.wensleydale.uk.com/0 -
How about Whitby?
We have used this company many times over the past few years and not had any problems at all.

You may like to try:
www.nextfourweeks.co.uk
www.therealvisitorsbook.co.uk
Both of these sites list UK cottages that are available during the next month
or also try
www.lastminutecottages.co.uk - we booked with them last year at the last minute - but I've looked at their site more recently and often it says 'check availability with owner' so it's a more long-winded affair than it used to be.

We have just started to let our UK house whilst we are in France, https://www.trenthouselets.co.uk It is only let 9-16 August so far. I will give £100 off the peak rates to MSEers. This is not a normal holiday home as it is our permanent home and consequently very well furnished/equipped. Got four stars on recent tourist board inspection.0

A belated thanks everyone. Rather weirdly, Incapuppy I have booked the railway carriage vbut it was before I saw your post!!! I meant to book it a few months ago but forgot. When I started looking agin last week I rang to see if they had any cancellations and they didn't but had one less than 2 hours after I rang.
We also managed to get a week in Pickering for the following week which is exactly where I wanted to be. Total for the 2 weeks is around £700 which is great for the middle of August. Looking forward to it.0
