Parking/ Getting To And From East Midlands Airport (from Birmingham)

So.... a friend was organising free parking ticket at East Midlands Airport, I fly tomorrow a 1550.. And he hasn't had confirmation back yet, so it looks increasingly unlikely this time...

SO... I could drive myself and park there, best price i've found is 47 for 7 days... 3-10th July. I arrive back after 10pm on the 10th... The slightly awkward times mean that my friends with cars aren't able to help me out.. I thought about bunging them petrol etc for the pleasure.

Then I looked at the trains, but especially with the return journey it's not worth the hassle, around 42 return!!

Can you help? DO you know any cheaper places to park nearby or cheaper ways of sorting this part of my trip... Arrrgh last minute stress.

Hi, You can park in a villeage abou 5 miles away called Hathern and then catch the bus which goes direct to East Midlands Airport. The Bus to EMA is about £2 each way I think. Hathern is a small villeage and I hav parked there befoe now. I live in Shepshed which is 3-4 miles away. If you need any further help let me know.

This probably isn't the best solution - I only mention it because I used to live in Long Eaton.
You could park at Long Eaton railway station (£4.50 for 48 hours - for 7 days you can buy several tickets and stick them all in the windscreen - I have done this before). It's not a very intensively-used car park, particularly at night, so security might be an issue, although I haven't had any problems myself. You might even park on the street as parking in the area is mostly unrestricted. There is a local bus (Rainbow 5) that goes from the station to East Midlands airport (about 2 services an hour, takes about 30 minutes).

Another option would be coach travel - National Express would cost about £20 return per person from Birmingham, although it takes about 3 hours.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

Single fares B'ham to Derby run from £3. The bus to the airport is £2.80 (runs all night). But, that late on the return probably means you'll miss the last train (23:15) - unless you stay overnight and get the first one at 6 am!!!

Thanks all.. checked out the coach, 20.70.. not bad, long winded but not bad. The village option is top of the list at the moment. Can't believe the train fare is that cheap... i checked on nationalrail.co.uk or something.. I believe you though LesD! Sounds good too.

Always look for the single ticket price - not return!

And I don't think there are many coach runs - certainly not that time at night.

Are you sure, I got £22.72 with purple parking and it let me go all the way to the payment page

EDIT: Try using coupon code: "ONLIN" (without quotes)
