sold some molton brown the other day, posted etc
received a message from the buyer saying I buy a lot of molton brown and the item you have send me is fake.
I know it is not as I bought it from QVC a few months back
anyway it has been returned, however, the consistency of the cream has changed, it is really runny not instead of think cream, and the bath and shower gel now has a 'head' on it which it did not when I sent it.
it smacks of them taking th cream out and replacing it, but with 300 odd positive feedback why would they.
how do I proceed I don't want to risk my feedback, but in the letter they have listed points on how they know it is fake, which are not valid
I have also contacted molton brown, who want to inspect the item, but of course it is going to be fake, if they have swapped the contents.

If you don't give the buyer a full refund, expect a neg. If they didn't switch the contents then rightfully so and if they had the cheek to switch the contents, they won't hesitate in negging you.
If you believe the item returned is not that which you originally supplied, don't provide a refund.
If paid for through paypal, the buyer may raise a dispute. If they lose they may sue you. If they win, you can sue them.
Ultimately, without further evidence, it'll come down to your word against theirs. The judge will decide. However, just because you have a receipt from QVC (who was unlikely to supply a fake product), how can you prove it was that item you originally sent or that you hadn't switched the contents beforehand?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I would refund to avoid a neg but write to them saying that Molton Brown wish to investigate this and you will be giving them your contact details. Do you still have your receipt from QVC?0

Sellers are going to get negatives all over the place so I wouldnt be bothered. If it was the real thing you sent you let them neg you and get done with it as ebay dont care. RIP ebay pretty soon.0
